Dynamic stretches

This term we have been learning about dynamic stretches. we had to make a presentation about our understanding of stretches, tendons, joints and bones. We also had to add a video of  someone doing our dynamic stretch. Here’s my presentation.

What I found challenging was figuring out what to write about tendons but I had some help from my teachers and peers.

I found it really liked learning about joints and how they work. I also liked learning about tendons and ligaments.

NgaWakahiamoe foodweb

Kia ora, This term at Koputaroa School we had Heather from Ngawakahiamoe come in and teach us about her native bush.

After  she taught as a little bit about Ngawakahiamoe we got to visit it. We visited Ngawakahiamoe in four groups, two year 7 groups and two year 8 groups. My favorite thing about Ngawakahiamoe was the cool fungi we saw. Once all the year 8 groups had gone we started doing lots of work to show what we had learned. We had to design a map of a bush that we would like to save. Here is mine.

Kind regards Zahra from Koputaroa School

WALT: adding fractions

WALT: add fractions with different denominators.

Success Criteria:

  1. First, you need to convert one of the fractions into a fraction with the same denominator as the other fraction.

e.g.  2/9 + 1/3 = ?

2.Now add them together by adding the top numbers (numerators). The denominators stay the same.

2/9 + 3/9

= 5/9

3. Lastly, simplify the fraction if you need to, or convert the improper fraction into a mixed numeral.

4. In this example we don’t need to simplify.

Here is my example:  2/6 + 1/2 = 5/6

Have you added fractions this year?

Bye,

Zahra

Recount writing

Recount Writing

Recently I wrote a recount

We were trying to use our best writing skills: best punctuation, organisation, sentences, words (vocabulary), spelling and develop our ideas.

We also used the correct structure and past tense.

I was proud of how long I took to write my recount and how I used interesting wow words .

I need to work on my punctuation because I didn’t put much punctuation in my recount.

What do you think about my writing? What can I improve?

pie chart

This week we made a pie graph.

We looked at the most popular sport in our class.

My teacher’s hypothesis was that Rugby will be the most popular as we had games going on at the time plus the team just played a tournament.

Here are the steps:

  1. First we collect the data using a tally chart.
  2. Then we used calculators to find the percentages (e.g Rugby 4 out 21; 4/21 x 100).
  3. We then multiplied the percentage by 3.6 (as there is 360 degrees in a circle) to get the angle.
  4. The next step was to draw the angle on our circles (which we drew with a compass).
  5. We used protractors to create the angle.
  6. Once all the sports percentages were added we colored each sport in.
  7. We then made Keys.

The hardest part was using the compass to make a good circle.

Have you ever made a pie chart?

What’s your favorite sport?

The School disco

Last week on Friday our School had a disco the theme was western. We had so many activities one of my favorite activities was the photo both I liked it because I got a photo with all my friends . In the photo we got to sit on hay bales. There were hay bales on the side of the room. There was loud music.

My Paper Plane

Last week we made cardboard planes. We used paper wings, a paper plane body, a paper elevator and a paper ruder. We started by tracing plane parts on to card then we started to color in our plane pieces. We could do any pattern. Some people put the NZ flag and other people did whatever they wanted. I put four different flags on my plane I put the Moroccan flag, The Irish flag, The British flag and the Scottish flag. After we finished coloring we had to cut our plane pieces up. Then we had to assemble our plane. We used hot glue to assemble them. Mr Mac helped most of us with gluing but some of us had help from people who had already finished. We used little buttons things as wells and a match stick as the thing that holds the wells on.

What I was most proud of was how my plane is unique because it’s not like the other ones. What I found tricky was gluing.

Information Report

This term we’ve been learning about weather and clouds this week we had to write a report about different types of weather. I found it very fun and the part that I found difficult was the part when we had to pick a weather phenomenon. This is mine.

Rain rain go away…

Have you seen Rain? Has rain come to your house?

Today we are going to learn about Rain.

We are going to learn what it is and how it is formed.

What is Rain?

Rain is water that is made in big gray clouds such as nimbostratus clouds and many more.

How is Rain Formed?

Clouds are made of water and rain is made of 1000 drops of water from the clouds. the higher you go the colder it is and the higher the clouds are the less water droplets there are in the cloud. If the clouds go very high the droplets turn into ice .

Facts About Rain

Raindrops are shaped more like hamburger buns. As a raindrop falls, it becomes less spherical in shape and becomes more flattened on the bottom like a hamburger bun. …Yep, rain does have a smell.

Of course rain itself has no scent. People call the smell musky, fresh – generally pleasant. This smell actually comes from the moistening of the ground.

In conclusion you’ve learnt how rain is formed, what is rain and interesting facts about rain.next time you go out on a rainy day don’t forget to wear a raincoat and bring your umbrella.
